A Message from Mark:
Hello! My name is Mark, and I’m a dedicated professional specializing in working with couples, individuals struggling with trauma, and those dealing with substance use issues. I approach my work with compassion and empathy, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their emotions and experiences. My journey into counseling began during my time in the Navy, where I discovered a passion for understanding human behavior through my first psychology and sociology classes. The insights gained from these courses captivated me, sparking a deep interest in helping others navigate their own mental and emotional landscapes. Since then, I have dedicated myself to this path, continuously learning and growing to better serve those who seek guidance and support. It’s been a rewarding journey, leading me to where I am now— committed to making a positive impact in people's lives.
Specialities
Couples Counseling
Working with couples is a particular passion of mine, as I believe in the transformative power of strengthening and healing relationships. Whether addressing communication issues, rebuilding trust, or navigating life transitions, I guide couples toward healthier, more fulfilling connections. I appreciate using the Gottman Method as it provides a structured approach to enhancing communication, resolving conflicts, and building stronger relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. This evidence-based method helps me foster a nurturing environment where couples can not only address their issues effectively but also deepen their connection and affection.
Trauma Counseling
As a military retiree and former first responder as a wildland firefighter, I find immense fulfillment in working with individuals who are navigating the challenging aftermath of trauma and stress. This journey involves not only understanding the deep-seated pain and experiences that my clients carry but also fostering a safe, empathetic environment where they feel heard and validated. I am passionate about guiding them through their healing process, employing both established therapeutic techniques and innovative approaches tailored to their unique needs. Witnessing their gradual transformation, as they reclaim their strength and resilience, is profoundly rewarding. Each story of recovery is a testament to the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity, and being a part of that journey reinforces my dedication to this meaningful work.
