Work and Experience

Kristian (he/him/his) has worked in the mental health field since 2006 and has served communities he has been a part of in various roles with psychosocial rehabilitation, foster care, therapeutic day treatment, and as part of crisis services in Washington County VA. Kristian has dedicated his expertise and clinical skills to working with adolescents and adults and primarily utilizes EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, and Existential therapy techniques to help clients reach their goals. Kristian received his M.S. in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in 2014 and has been EMDR Certified since February 2022.

What would Kristian like to say to potential clients?

At the very core of my work is that I respect your autonomy, identity, and goals for your life. I hold no judgment or reservation about any aspect of you as a person and I strive to support and affirm your choices as I believe you have every right to be who you are. I adhere to the EMDR model of therapy and believe that our past and the trauma we have experienced often shape how we react to our present and impact our futures. I believe that by helping clients process and heal from those past events we can move towards adapting more in the present and reclaiming the future path for ourselves. In my work, I aim to help you feel comfortable being yourself and to create a place where you can work through challenging thoughts and emotions freely and safely.
If you have ever asked yourself the question “why do I do this,” or “why do I feel this way,” then I want to encourage you and support you to not only find those answers but then turn that into the change you want for your life. I wholeheartedly believe that you deserve to live the kind of life you want to lead and deserve to be the best complete version of yourself possible. Coming to therapy isn’t easy, and the road to healing can be challenging but you do not have to undertake this journey alone. Learning about yourself more and healing the parts that need it so that you can move forward in the future you want, is what I aim to assist you with.
