Owner of Counseling & Assessments with Brittany & Owner of The Guiding Star
Brittany is a native of Southwest Virginia and is passionate about this place she calls home. She has worked for over a decade in the mental health field. She started her career as a case manager working with adults and transitioned to working in an outpatient crisis stabilization program with adults who were experiencing an acute crisis. Brittany found that she enjoyed being able to help others navigate those moments of crisis to invoke positive change. This led her to pursing her master's of education in counseling and human development. Upon interning at an outpatient private practice Brittany discovered that she loved being able to assist clients throughout their journey with creating positive change in their lives. This shifted her focus from crisis stabilization to outpatient counseling.
Since getting her masters degree Brittany has spent the later part of her career specializing in counseling work with individuals who have experienced various levels of trauma. She finds it to be the greatest honor of her life to work with people on their journey. Since 2022 she has opened her own practice and now operates two thriving private practices.
Brittany is dedicated to staying involved in the field and always learning news things. She has been a member of the American Counseling Association since 2018, a member of the Virginia Counselors Association since 2022, and is current the President-Elect for the Southwest Chapter of the VCA. You might also find her teaching Psychology Courses at Emory & Henry as an adjunct or participating in events as a member for the Kiwanis Club of Marion, VA.
Brittany wants clients to know....
I want potential clients to know that there is great courage that is present when one decides to overcome the fear of coming to therapy and that because of that courage, they have activated a part of themselves that will help propel them into the future dynamic they are striving for. Whatever the outcome might look like, progress has been made the moment the thought of coming to therapy has crossed your mind. That is something to be proud of. I want to celebrate those moments and help you continue to achieve more!
Brittany's office space...
My office space is a reflection of parts of who I am as a person. It has a very earthy vibe and touches of bright color. I want clients to be able to come into my office and feel calm and comfortable but also inspired. Every component in my office down the rug I have holds a specific meaning related to how I do therapy. I want my office to be as much a part of the therapeutic process as I am because it is a space to prepare for the adventure of life that continues outside of these walls.
