Ashton Wants Clients To Know:
A question I would like to ask is, if we do not have hope in this world, then what do we have? Individuals may come into counseling with a sense of "hopelessness" or feeling "helpless," and may need to have someone else intervene to feel like they belong or even to make sense of their life. These individuals may be afraid or feel like they cannot make such choices within their life, or simply do not have the tools nor support to help. We all need a quality life, and to have the capability to feel empowered to make our own decisions and to have goals. I hope to be such an individual that can help provide that hope and motivation for individuals to feel and know that they can succeed within their life. To assist, listen, and learn about you is a top priority of mine, and to help you accomplish goals and certain challenges is also a part of my own mission as a success."
Ashton has always had a passion for wanting to help others. From an early age she knew that she wanted to give back and to help those in times of need or when feeling hopeless or lost. With that passion Ashton decided to create her own journey in finding ways to make this passion a reality for herself, which led her into the mental health field. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UVA College at Wise back in 2022, Ashton continued on to later obtain her Master's degree of Education in Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College in 2024. Ashton has been working in the mental health field since 2022 as a case manager for adults. Ashton has always enjoyed working with adults, but since starting her internship within her Masters program, she found a new calling with working with children as well. This was not something Ashton had planned for herself within the beginning of her journey, but she is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with children and to help them learn and grow from an early age. This has only increased Ashton’s passion to help others at any age to strive for their own personal wellness. Ashton enjoys working with ages five years and older.
Hearing people’s stories, helping others during challenging times or issues, and giving them a safe space to share is something Ashton has made a priority and goal for herself. Ashton comes in as a Resident in Counseling with hope, knowledge, and insight into how she can better help her community and others in times of need.
